THE JOURNEY BEGINS! Fellow Optimists,
The 2008-2009 year is here! I appreciate the confidence you have shown by electing me to lead the South Carolina Optimist District. Optimism is a very important part of my life and I know it is to you also because of the commitment you have made to be important in the life of our youth.
With your help and dedication, our Optimist team can bring Distinguished recognition to the South Carolina District in 2008-2009. That is why I have selected the theme “Turning over every leaf to serve more youth”. No one individual can do this alone; it must be a team effort.
While listening to our Lt Governors reports, at our District meetings, I was really impressed with all the youth and community service projects that the clubs are conducting, to make our state a better place in which to live.
The secret to the success of the South Carolina Optimist District begins with us. Let’s begin early in the year and get at least four new clubs built by the end of the third quarter. Building a new club is the greatest service project a club can undertake as it will allow another to share in our Optimism and serve at least 3100 more youth in the District.
As we strive for Distinguished recognition. There’ll be roadblocks. But, after all, we’re Optimists! We don’t give up! Together we can not only make a difference in the lives of youth in our state, but earn the recognition for our District of being one of the best In Optimist International. Yours in Optimism,
